There's nothing like a new YSL foundation to get beauty lovers hot under the collar. We went cray-cray for the brand's Le Teint Touche Eclat back in 2012 and, if anything, there's even more hype and anticipation surrounding their latest offering, Le Teint Encre de Peau. So what's the deal?
If you're a fan of LTTE (and I'm right there with you), you'll know and love the product for it's lightweight, glowy finish, excellent shade range and sheer ease of application (check out my top five reasons to invest).
Fusion Ink, or Le Teint Encre de Peau, shares most of these attributes but is tailored more towards combination/oily skin-types; the finish is less glowy, more demi-matte.
Like it's counter-top companion, it's undetectable on the skin - there are no powders or bulking agents in the formula, which results in a very thin, fine fluid that feels weightless and is surprisingly long-lasting (Chanel's Perfection Lumiere Velvet is the most similar base I own).
It's very buildable, too: you get a natural, lightweight look with one thin layer, but can apply a little more for medium coverage. I can skip powder when I'm wearing this (though I still need concealer), and it will easily last a good 10 hours.
The packaging is also pleasingly high-end: the gold-capped glass bottle - designed to mimic a tuxedo - is incredibly elegant and chic. Instead of a pump, there's a quill applicator, which allows you to apply the product directly to your face, and blend out with a brush or your fingertips.
The shade range is great - there are 16 in total, which includes two half shades, and they handily correspond to the Le Teint Touche Eclat shade range - I have BD 30.
So the big question: is this worth the hype? If you watched my beauty favourites video, you'll already know that I'm a fan. With my combination skin and preference for light bases, this is pretty much the answer to my foundation prayers. It's €40 and on counter now.
