MAC is known and loved for many things, but until very recently, its nail offerings haven’t tended to be among them. That’s set to change with the autumn launching Studio Nail Lacquers, a line of 30 colours in three finishes – cream, pearl and glitter – along with six transformative topcoats (think matte, texture, smoky and iridescent pearl).
The brand-spanking-new formula is 3-free, developed without toluene, formaldehyde or DBP, and promises high impact colour that won’t fade, dull or streak. There’s a new brush, too, which is made of flattened, streamlined fibres for smooth application – and, MAC being MAC, the colour range is gorgeous.
They gave me Tropical, which is pretty much the perfect autumnal shade – it’s the most delicious coppery glitter, suspended in a sheer black base, and evocative of this season’s russets and browns. Bejewelled autumn leaves, twinkling at your fingertips...what's not to love?
As glitters go, this is a good ‘un; the glitter particles are quite small and they’re packed in, for a nice and even spread across the nail. The first coat is pretty sheer, but the second will get you some full-coverage, high-impact bling.
The stunning shade makes for quite a grown-up glitter, too: it looks quite luxe and spendy, which makes it well worth the effort to remove.
All nail newbies are on counter on September 4th at a tenner a pop – will you be checking them out?
