YSL Spring Beauty Look 2014: Check out the products in action!
The spring beauty offerings are landing and I’ve been whiling away grey January days by planning my post payday purchasing. True to form, the YSL collection could do some serious damage to my bank balance and actually has me considering a purchase I haven’t made since, ooh, 2002: a new lipgloss!
Not just any old gloss though – the brand’s new Gloss Volupté range, €25, is creamy, pigmented and comes in a variety of finishes, from shimmering to sheer. They’ll be available in 24 shades, four of which are released with the spring collection: Rose Fusion, Rose Orfèvre, Terriblement Fuchsi and Prune Organdi.
I watched them, and the rest of the spring collection, being put through their paces by YSL’s European Make-Up artist Fred Letailleur, who created the looks I’ve snapped here. The overall feel of the collection is very fresh and pretty, but with a sexy, slightly tough edge – which the Cara Delevingne campaign imagery nicely evokes.
Accompanying the glosses are four new shades of Rouge Volupté, surely some of the prettiest and most wearable lipsticks, ever, although spendy at €31.50. An eye enhancing purple mascara, Volume Effet Faux Cils in Captivating Purple, €31.00, is also on offer along with two new nail lacquers in Rose Scabiosa and Rouge Pablo, both €24.
But the star of the show is the Rosy Blush collector palette, €49.50, which not only looks like a dream in its engraved pink-and-gold case, but has a lovely creamy texture, too, and promises to impart some much needed radiance into dreary winter complexions. In the pic above, Fred's also using it to great effect on the model's eyes, pairing it with lashings of dramatic winged out liner (a key trend for SS14, dont'chaknow) and an ombre glossy lip.
Everything is on counter now – will you be checking it out, or maybe you already have?
