Autumn/Winter 2013 Highstreet Fashion Favourites: New Look, Topshop, M&S and more!

Autum/Winter Fashion Favourites

Autumn in Ireland usually lasts about three minutes, before we’re right in to the bleak midwinter – but things have been different this year. My new winter coat remains largely unworn and there are still plenty of red and gold leaves on the trees… but there’s a nip in the air that tells us Ned Stark was definitely right. Here’s what I'm loving this weather.

ONE: Because the rain has held off, I’m still wearing my converse; Mr Fluff might disagree, but I’m convinced that they go with any and every thing or situation, thanks to their timeless, simple style. This pair are my current favourites (I’m currently obsessed with the colour) and came courtesy of Surfdome, who have a huge range of colours and styles to choose from.

TWO: I’m alternating them with the brilliant boots that I highlighted here. I can’t tell you how happy I was to stumble across them in M&S a few weeks ago, for a mere €65. In fact, I can’t tell you how happy they make me, period. Except I can: VERY!

THREE: This ‘What’s In My Bag’ video highlighted how much I needed a clearout, so I’ve transferred the essentials to this sturdy grey shopper from New Look. I love the structured shape, the faux suede panels and crocodile print detail (also faux) and best of all? It’s just €29.99 from New Look.

Topshop Tartan Shirt

FOUR: The most loved item in my wardrobe right now? Definitely this oversized check shirt from Topshop (that’s me posing up a storm in it, with my gorgeous pal Lola - there may have been drink taken).

I love it tucked into skirts, worn loose over jeans but not, crucially, tied round my waist – after this post, a concerned friend emailed to say I was far too old for any of those shenanigans. (Irish readers, word to the wise: buy online, or the sterling/euro conversion might make you weep. It’s £30 versus (what I paid for it) almost €50. Waah!)

FIVE: Finally the weather here may be temperate but not so in bonny Scotland, where I was hanging out this weekend. It was the perfect opportunity to wear my new Ted Baker hat, which I picked up for €60 in Harvey Nichols, Dundrum. Expensive, yes, but it’s the perfect replacement for my much mourned Giant Furry Hat from last winter, which I left behind in Brussels. LUV U 4EVA.

What’s your most loved fashion item right now?
