It’s taken me a long, long time to find a form of exercise that I truly enjoy, and that I can fit easily into my life. Eventually realising that my gym membership wasn’t going to use itself, and that I certainly wasn’t going to use it in the evenings (valuable blogging time!), I looked for something closer to work. Now I’m a member of a pool that I use at lunchtime, several times a week.
Of course, it’s meant making a few adjustments to my regular routine, so I thought I’d share!ONE I’m normally lazy about body cream, but the chlorine in the water can be very drying on the skin. Thanks heavens, then, for Garnier’s Ultimate Body Oil. This warm and nutty scented blend of argan, macadamia, almond and rose oils can be sprayed on after a post-pool shower and is rapidly absorbed, leaving no residue. Quick and easy, just the way I like it.
TWO The chlorine has an effect on hair, too, meaning a gentle but moisturising shampoo and conditioner are required. Elave products are perfect – the shampoo and conditioner are chemical free and protect the scalp from dryness.
THREE A drop or two of hair oil before and after hitting the pool can also work wonders – currently I’m loving the Liz Earle Botanical Shine Nourishing Hair Oil, which conditions and protects the hair.
FOUR My old swimsuit is on its last legs so I’m shopping around for more. I fell in love with this retro River Island bikini but, on second thoughts, I think it’s more suited to the beach than the swimming pool. I’ll be investing in two new swimsuits – something basic and sporty for everyday, and something more flirty and fun for indulging in my spa break hobby! M&S will be my first port of call.

FIVE To protect against nasty fungal infections, pool shoes are a must - these slip on sandals from Skechers are ideal. They also minimise the risk of slipping on the wet floor tiles, they’re a bit more substantial than flip flops, and they won’t break the bank.
SIX Shaving can also dry out the skin so the new Venus & Olay razor has been a godsend – it works to help replenish your skin’s moisture levels, thanks to the Olay gel bars at either side of the blades. The razor is designed to be easy to use- it gives a close, comfortable shave and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.
Now if I could only find the perfect waterproof mascara, I’ll be happy. Any recommendations, and do you have any tips of your own? Share ‘em in the comments!
