L'Occitane Add Ambre & Santale to La Collection De Grasse, For Autumn

My taste in fragrance changes with the seasons. A fresh and zingy citrus is perfection on a bright summer day but, as the days get cooler, I favour a warmer and woodier scent.

Lucky for me, so, that L'Occitane's four-strong Collection de Grasse will be joined by a newbie this autumn. With Ambre & Santal, their in-house perfumer Karine Dubreuil has added a woody oriental to the range which, like Thé Vert & Bigarade - coincidentally, my favourite of the original four - is billed as a unisex fragrance.

Housed in the same elegant, square glass bottles as the others in the range, Ambre & Santal is delicious both to look at and to wear. The spicy warmth of the amber and sandalwood join with the sweetness of vanilla, to create a scent that feels soft and comforting yet distinctive, and assured.

There is a touch of smokiness and incense in the mix, a definite sensuality, and it has great lasting power - a spritz in the morning takes me right through to the end of the day. It has depth without being heady or overpowering, and smells so divine that I've sprayed it on my pillowcases, scarves and the inside of my new winter coat. This one's definitely a keeper.

It launches in October, priced at €55 - will you be checking it out?
