New Signature Treatment at Farnham Estate, with Natural Irish Brand Ógra

Farnham Estate Cavan

One of the (very) many things I love about Farnham Estate is the tasteful way they incorporate the natural beauty of the enormous grounds throughout the hotel, spa, restaurants and guest experience.

Ingredients sourced from the estate feature on the menus, the colour scheme echoes the scenic surroundings, and assorted flora and fauna feature as part of the hotel’s décor; corridors are lined with glass display boxes of hay, leaves and even shorn sheep’s wool.

With nature – particularly indigenous Irish elements of nature - playing such an important role,  it makes absolute sense that the hotel has introduced Ógra to the spa – with a new, head-to-toe signature treatment called Crann na Beatha (Tree of Life).

And you can bet your bottom dollar that I tried that baby out.

Ógra is a brilliant, peat-based brand: 100% natural and 100% Irish, it’s the perfect choice for Farnham. Peat is absolutely packed with nutrients, antioxidants, essential oils and anti-ageing ingredients - which is why bodies found in the bogs have been so well preserved, despite being thousands of years old in many cases.

If you’re feeling stressed or out of balance, the Crann na Beatha treatment was designed especially for you. I certainly felt it had been tailor made for me. Beginning with a welcome touch ritual – a sort of gentle pressure designed to awaken the energy points – we proceeded through full body exfoliation, deep tissue massage and facial, before I was slathered all over in that healing, detoxifying and Farnham-grown-lavender-infused peat.

Just imagine it. Close your eyes there for a second, and try. All that comforting, nurturing, soothing attention, all focused on you, for an entire one hundred and twenty minutes. It really did feel spiritual. And my skin, from top to toe, can feel the benefit still: it’s more supple and hydrated, and I’ve been motivated to treat it better ever since. My skin totally deserves it. And yours does too.

The signature Crann na Beatha treatment at Farnham Estate costs €135 pp, or €145 pp for a couples retreat - which includes a steam room for two during the treatment. Follow my lead and keep a close eye on the site for special offers, or check out the spa brochure online.
