Current Cosmetic Crushes: Chanel, Paese, Origins, Kevyn Aucoin, Clinique and Max Factor

If you’ve been watching my weekly vlogs you’ll know life has been hectic over the past few weeks - so it’s no surprise that I’ve missed a monthly favourites video or two. But I’ve still discovered loads of great new products that deserve their moment in the spotlight. Let’s get stuck in!

Looking at skincare first, I find myself becoming more and more enamoured of chemical exfoliants and these Origins Modern Friction Instant Brightening Pads, €44, are basically the bomb. Suitable for all skin types except sensitive, these convenient, travel friendly little pads are infused with fruit acids and other natural ingredients that promise similar results to a 30% glycolic peel – basically a smoother, brighter visage.

(Word to the wise: as with all chemical exfoliants or peels, make sure you use a good SPF. But hey, we’re all doing that anyway by now, am I right? High five!)

Summer, to me, means pared back makeup and when not reaching for these meltproof makeup essentials, you’ll find me wearing something very minimal, like in this snap here (where I've used or am wearing everything I'm featuring here).  A lighter base like a BB or CC cream calls for an excellent concealer to banish my under-eye bags and the brightening concealer from Paese Cosmetics, €11.99, has been my recent go-to.

With a light, creamy consistency but heavy duty cover-up powers, I’ve been loving this under my eyes and on any blemishes, too – it blends beautifully into the skin with my favourite ecotools or Real Techniques brushes. Find it on dolledup.ie.  I especially love it layered over the Max Fax CC stick for dark circles.

Chanel’s cream blusher in Cheeky has been another summer staple. This warm bronze shade is brilliant for creating the illusion of cheekbones, and is a cinch to smooth on with either fingers (my preferred option) or a brush. It blends to a natural looking, matte finish and I’m pretty much obsessed.

For eyes, I’ve been keeping the focus on lashes and brows with Clinique’s Lash Power Feathering Mascara, and the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil. The mascara, €23, gives a pretty, fluttery effect, is incredibly water resistant and the teeny tiny tube size means it’s great for travelling, too.

The brow pencil is incredibly skinny and ideal for creating a natural but defined brow – I've raved about it on Frillseeker. To my dismay, it snapped on me last week but, sing hosannas, I can now find it in Dublin - it's likely to be my very first purchase from Dublin's brand new - and wonderful - Space NK (with the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray coming a close second!)

Last but not least, a spritz of Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere – a softer, fresher reworking of the classic No 5 – sets the perfect tone for these warm and balmy summer evenings.

But enough about me - what are you loving right now?
