Benefit Tinted Lip Balms: 3 Reasons They're Worth The Splurge

Benefit Tinted Lip Balms Review

Benefit's lip and cheek stains are some of their most enduringly popular products and, from next month, they'll each have their own co-ordinating lip balm.

Lightly tinted,  benebalm, chachabalm, lolllibalm, and posiebalm come adorably packaged in their colour co-ordinating, twist-up metallic tubes.

It's a clever move from Benefit - the balms can be worn alone or over your favourite tint, which can be a little drying worn alone.

But is €21.50 too much to shell out for a tinted balm?

I thought long and hard over this, and if you feel like treating yourself or someone else, there are three main reasons I think these are worth the splurge.

  • Firstly, I'm a sucker for a really great lip balm - and you know what? These fit the bill. Jojoba, synthetic beeswax and mango butter combine for a creamy, conditioning texture while sodium hyaluronate - a derivative of hyaluronic acid - attracts and locks in water to the lips. So - unlike, say, Vaseline, which just acts as a barrier to the elements - these are actively moisturising and feel really lovely to wear.

  • Secondly, a great tinted balm is actually quite hard to come by. These deliver a pretty sheen and a light sheer, natural colour that's perfect for this time of year. Can you get the goods for cheaper? Well, yes - I love the Korres pots, but I prefer Benefit's twist up stick packaging for reasons of both convenience and hygiene.

  • Thirdly, for an extra colour kick, you can layer these over your favourite tint. Currently, I only have Cha Cha tint - which happily is also my favourite balm colour - so in this pic, you can see the combined effect. Pretty, subtle-but-noticeable and great with a smokey eye. I'm sold.

So for gifting, for fans of the brand or for fellow lip balm fanatics, I don't think you'll be let down. But what do you think? Tell me in the comments!
