Summer Sandals: New Favourites from Ara, Aldo, Penneys

Ara Hawaii Summer Sandals
Nails: Essie Aruba Blue

So the weather hasn't got the memo yet, but summertime approaches and it's almost time to liberate those toes! Sandal season is a-coming, and I’ve made a few recent additions that should see me through the warmer months ahead.

ONE: Finding walking sandals that actually look good is no easy feat, so this summery, neutral toned pair, from German brand Ara (€75, top pic) were a revelation. They give plenty of support, are comfortable to wear while trekking round town and I love the hint of glamour in the beading and braid details.

Ara have recently arrived on Irish shores; in Dublin, you’ll find them in a variety of shops including O’Neill’s Shoes on Talbot Street, Boyers on North Earl Street and Patrick Boylan Shoes on the Hibernian Way/Dawson Street; see the Irish website for further info and stockists.

Aldo Tropical Print Wedge Summer Sandals

TWO: I nearly wept when these gorgeous, tropical print wedges from Aldo wouldn’t squeeze onto my feet. The assistant brought a size 7, I had a Cinderella moment and the rest is history. The tropical print is so cheery, instantly evoking holidays and warm summer evenings, and the wedge heels are easier to walk in than your average heel.  I think this was €50 well spent.

Penneys Embellished Sandals

THREE: Finally, these embellished beauties look luxurious, but the price won’t break the bank. It was love at first sight at the Penneys Press Day, so I was ecstatic to spot them in store.  I took them to Tenerife and not only did they brilliantly complement my holiday wardrobe, but they were totally comfy, to boot. All that for €15? Buy them now!
