The NARS summer collection is a beautiful edit for eyes, lips and skin: whether your preference is wearably pretty, dark and mysterious or tropically bright, this baby has got you covered.
It’s all on counter from May 1st but I got my hands on a few bits in advance, and let’s just say, they’ve done absolutely nothing to mitigate my fully fledged addiction to the brand.
When it comes to eyeshadow, the pewter and lilac hues of Lost Coast are much more in my comfort zone - but I’ve been hugely enjoying the Tropical Princess duo, €34, this week. This neon lime and icy lavender feel fresh and uplifting, especially with the warmer weather we’ve had in Dublin this week.
In the gorgeous campaign imagery, the green is worn across the entire eyelid and up to the brow bone, with the lavender mostly used underneath the eye. I’ve been wearing them both on the lid, with the almost silvery shade on the inner corner, and a dab of matte bronzer blended into my crease. (If you're wondering, that lippy is Chanel's Conquise which I wrote about here.)
It helps that the colours are bright yet sheer, which means that they’re a little more wearable while still packing a punch. I’ve had quite a few compliments, which has helped put a spring in my step after being sick for what feels like forever.
Not that you’d know it, because I’m rocking a healthy, natural glow – courtesy of the Hot Sand Illuminator, €30. When dabbed onto cheekbones it gives the most gorgeously subtle highlight, and the pretty, peachy shade will flatter so many skintones – if you’re a fan of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector, definitely give this a whirl. It’s €30.
I also have Baalbek eye paint, €25, a beautiful olive-hued bronze with gold shimmer that can be used as a liner, base or all-over lid colour; expect to see pics soon!
And I’m definitely planning a sneaky little buy or two when the collection lands – the lip pencils are so delicious that the soft touch shadow pencil in Iraklion, a smoky rose quartz for eyes, €22, just has to be worth a punt.
L-R Orgasm; Priscilla; Salamanca; Turkish Delight; Wonder |
Now that gloss is back on the beauty agenda, right here seems like a good place to start. There are five in this collection, all €22: Salamanca, Priscilla and Turkish Delight are varying shades of pink, Orgasm is a peachy pink with shimmer while Wonder, a sheer mandarin with pink and gold shimmer, is the one that’s calling my name.
But that’s not all: Malacca single eyeshadow, €25, described as an iridescent peacock, promises a more mysterious, moody look, while Libertango nail polish, €18, is a juicy orange that perfectly complements the rest of the collection.
Could you pick out a favourite piece?
