It will hardly have escaped your notice that after years languishing in the beauty wilderlands, gloss is back with a bang.
For those of us quaking in fear at memories of the sticky, gloopy and entirely unpigmented offerings of our youth let me reassure you: the best new glosses are an entirely different breed - YSL's Gloss Volupte, for example, is delicious.
But for those who need yet more reassurance, why not test the waters with Lancôme's latest launch, Lip Lovers.
Not quite a liquid lipstick but more pigmented and long-wearing than a gloss, this is a lovely little product and the packaging, with its click-to-release button on the lid, is really very satisfying.
18 shades are headed our way at €22 a pop which, and I might have lost the run of myself here, but I thought was rather reasonable.
My favourite shades (L-R) : #336 Orange Manege, #356 Belle de Rouge, #357 Bouquet Final |
I tried my favourite shade, #336 Orange Manege, at the launch and wore it for the rest of the day. Sadly I didn't take any snaps of it on to show you but hey, all the more reason to visit it on counter.
I can report, though, that it felt very nice indeed, sort of cushiony and smooshable (these being highly technical terms) and I took to its lip-plumping, face-brightening and not-remotely-sticky beguiling ways.
BREAKING NEWS! Here's a shot that Kirstie from the fabulous Frillseeker snapped of Orange Manege being applied.
It didn't have the staining action of products like YSL's Glossy Stain or quite as much pigment, but the glossy gel effect seemed to last longer and I think the Lip Lovers feel a tad more moisturising on the lips.
Arnotts have the exclusive on this one with the collection launching there first on March 12th, and nationwide from April onwards. Will you be checking it out?
