Coral Crush: Favourite Makeup Shades for Cheeks. Nails and Lips

Coral makeup for spring

Coral makeup is a favourite of mine year-round, but it's especially lovely in warmer, brighter weather - it's brilliant for livening up the face, and has a flattering, warming effect on the skin.

Because it's such a versatile shade, ranging from soft peachy pinks to vibrant orangey reds, there's definitely one for all skin tones. And it looks brilliant worn pretty much everywhere - fingers, toes, cheeks, lips and eyes - though perhaps not everywhere at once.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Coral Urbain and Bobbi Brown Pink Coral Blush

As the temperatures rise I love bright, bold shades but, in early spring I favour creamier, peachier tones; they can look every bit as sophisticated and expensive as this season's nude lip trend.  These colours have a slightly retro vibe which I like to play up by matching cheeks, lips and fingertips and wearing with a vintagey curl in my hair.

My current favourite combination is what I'm wearing in the top photo which, yes, is blurry but I rather like the soft, candlelit effect so I hope you'll forgive me. My nails are Kook-A-Mango from the excellent Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure range (which I absolutely love).

On my cheeks is the Bobbi Brown Pink Coral Powder Blush which I think was limited, but Nectar is a similar, suits-everyone shade (and Pink Coral is available as a shimmer here if that's your bag).

Best Coral Makeup for Spring

As for lips, that's the incredibly pretty YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in 51, Corail Urban (remember it from this post?). It was released last November but can still be found.  It's such a good lipstick: the formula feels slick and nourishing and the colour is a beaut. A neutral eye colour, some mascara and a flick of liner finishes the look.

Are you crushing on coral this spring?
