I'm lucky enough to see a lot of new lipstick launches and, while they all excite me in their different ways – I have rarely met a lipstick I didn’t like – it's rare to come across one that is wildly different from the next.
Estee Lauder’s Pure Colour Envy lipstick is that rare launch, the type of lipstick that has the power to make you mix your metaphors and knock your socks into the middle of next week.
Available now at esteelauder.co.uk and launching nationwide next month, these lippies are genuinely special. The packaging, the brand’s first redesign in more than 20 years, is luxe and satisfyingly expensive: as it should be in this price bracket; these lipsticks are €29.
But it’s the gel formula that really sets them apart: creamy and comfortable, this is loaded with hyaluronic acid to attract and seal in moisture throughout the day. It glides over the lips and feels unlike anything else in my collection – and it actually lasts.
Swatches L-R: Impassioned, Dominant, Envious |
I was given Dominant, a berry toned pink, which affords me a good four to five hours of wear. Requiring no separate liner, it doesn’t feather and is easy to apply, giving a sculpting effect to the lips and helping them to look more full.
Add to that the 20 strong shade range, each more desirable and wearable than the next, and the incredible colour payoff, and you’ve got it all – wrapped up in a chic, shiny, navy-blue package.
But don’t take my word for it – go visit them on counter, swatch them, ask the counter staff to try them on your lips. I guarantee you’ll be a goner, too.
