Easiest Ever, Fuss Free Party Make Up with Bobbi Brown’s Old Hollywood Collection

Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood Collection

In an ideal world we would all have hours to prep for a party and create dazzling and dramatic masterpieces with no less than 17 eyeshadows, 86 brushes and an experimental ombre lip. But things don’t always go to plan and you might just find yourself with wet hair*, a bare face and less than ten minutes to go. On those occasions you need a fuss free, go-to look with reliable products you can throw on in a jiffy and this party season, Bobbi Brown has brought it for me.

Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood Lipstick and Longwear Cream Shadow Sticks in Bronze and Tuxedo Black

The star of the Old Hollywood Collection might be the beautiful palette (and I love it so much I featured it in my gift guide) but it’s the Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Bronze that stole my heart. It only came into my life in December but even so, made it into my Beauty Year In Review.  Easier to use than Maybelline’s On & On Bronze Colour Tattoo, and more long lasting than Max Factor’s Caramel Rage, it has easily supplanted all my previous one-step-bronzey-eye faves.

It’s delicious, it’s flattering, it’s convenient and most of all, it’s easy as pie.  It’s €30 but sadly it’s limited (WHY LORD WHY), although Tuxedo Black will join the permanent collection. A smudge of that on the lids, a quick blend with my ring finger and boom – eyes done (the lash extensions obviously help!).

Keeping the eyes low key means you can totally play up the lips, and the gold-packaged  Old Hollywood red was born to be centre stage. Another limited offering ( though if you’re quick, you could still be in luck), this is a lovely, rich and creamy lipstick that knows how to make an impact. Slicked on straight from the bullet, it's easy to wear and the slightly brickish undertones give it an unusual, retro hue.

I keep everything else simple – bronzer instead of blush (this is still my favourite), a longwearing foundation, a quick bit of something through my brows, and boom. Five minutes later and I’m out the door.

What’s your go-to party look?

*A spritz of texturising spray and a messy bun is my solution – when it dries and you take it down, you’re left with va-va-volume and lovely tousled waves.
