Chanel Vitalumiere Compact Douceur Foundation Review, Before and After Photos

Elegance and ease don't always go hand in hand, but Chanel's new compact foundation is bucking the trend. Featherlight and simple to use, Vitalumiere Compact Douceur is a silky and finely milled pressed powder, offering light to medium coverage with SPF 10.

Shade 30 Beige
It's available in six shades, with a choice of undertones: Beige, to match your natural skintone, and Beige Rose for an anti-fatigue effect. I'm usually 20 Beige in Chanel foundations and was advised to choose a shade higher to find my perfect match.

Every bit as sleek and chic as you'd expect, the glossy black compact is also hardy enough to live in your handbag, and a useful companion too - the large mirror is incredibly handy.

I've had it to trial for the past few weeks and find myself increasingly impressed. Coverage is sheer, the idea being that with advances in skincare, we don't want to hide our skin under make up. But as you can see from my before and after photos, it does a lovely job of evening my skintone, concealing redness and giving skin a velvety, soft-focus effect. (And that's despite being sick with the flu!)

I also like its versatility: apply with the sponge as a foundation, or sweep on with a brush, as a powder.  It's really two products in one, making it seem like €52 well spent. Refills are €39.50.

Look for it from October 18th.  Are we liking?
