Five Favourite Lipsticks: Guest Post from Emma at Ol 'Green Eyes

I may be off sunning myself in Italy but I’ve lined up a lovely treat for you all today, too, thanks to Emma from Ol’ Green Eyes. A fellow Irish blogger, and incredibly talented photographer, I’ve long been a fan of Emma’s gorgeous, vintage-inspired fashion style.  She’s recently starting writing about beauty and today, she’s sharing her favourite lipsticks - so sit back, enjoy and I’ll catch up with everyone soon!

When Emma asked me to write a guest post for Fluff and Fripperies, I knew straight away what I wanted to talk about – lipstick! I'm not ashamed to admit I’m a lipstick addict, reds being my big weakness (I currently own 14 shades of red lipstick). So for today's post I thought I would share with you my top five favourites.

First up is my perfect nude, Estée Lauder's Crystal Baby, which is one of their Pure Colour Crystal Creme formulas. I say my perfect nude because nudes are so changeable depending a person's skintone. This is what I like to call foundation for my lips as it's as close to my natural lip colour as I've found and it has a semi-sheer finish so it doesn't take away from the rest of your make up. It's comfortable to wear, doesn't feel drying and the packaging, let's face it, is stunning.

The first red in my top five is Revlon's Fire and Ice (which I'm wearing in the photo above). This is also one of the first reds I ever bought. Fire and Ice was originally released by Revlon in 1952 making it the perfect vintage red and is the most beautiful vibrant, glamorous shade. It's one of the Super Lustrous Creme finish lipsticks so it has a smooth, easy to apply texture.  If you love red lipstick, you must own this.

Next up is my most recent favourite, Kate Moss for Rimmel in 107, the perfect Autumn/Winter shade for anyone who wants to try darker lips. The finish is semi-matte, making it comfortable to wear. I love dark lips and this is a great everyday alternative to the full on dark vampy lip.

The second Estée Lauder lipstick on my list is my favourite pink, one of their Long Lasting formula shimmer finish lipsticks in the colour Wildly Pink. I actually got this free with a Brown Thomas promotion and didn't think much of it at the time. Then when I finally tried it, I fell in love.

This does not budge once it's applied but it's still comfortable to wear. It's such a pretty, flattering shade of pink that isn't too bright, so you can wear it all year round. I never would have looked twice at this but I'm so glad I discovered it.

Last, but most definitely not least is my beloved MAC Russian Red. This lipstick will always have a place in my heart as it's the lipstick I wore as Maid of Honour on my sister's wedding day. Words cannot express how much I love this lipstick, it is simply my all-time favourite red and I can't imagine being without it now.

That all sounds very dramatic I know, but seriously, it just makes me feel good when I wear it. It is an instant confidence booster. Another matte finish, it stays on so well and is one of those lipsticks I don't need to worry about touching up for hours. Red lipstick lovers, this is another one that you must have in your collection.

So those are my favourite lipsticks - what are yours?
