The trade off for those gorgeously creamy, balm-like lipsticks used to be the coverage: with this type of formula, sheer or semi sheer was pretty much your lot.
I say used to be, because with Chanel's latest version of Rouge Coco Shine, you're getting all of the comfort and shine of the original range - but with 30% more pigment.
As a lover of a very bright lip, this delights me - just look at this little lovely, here. Suspense is a beautiful, bright fuchsia with matching shimmer - the sparkle is still sophisticated and subtle, but gives added dimension on the lips.
The colour payoff is fantastic - you get rich, vibrant colour, but the finish is still super glossy and shiny. There's still a slight transparency that gives an almost gel-like effect. I'm quite obsessed.
But what's really great about these lipsticks is how easy and comfortable they are to wear. Buttery and balm-like, they slick on straight from the bullet; because of the soft, creamy formula, they're a doddle to use on the go. They feel lovely and moisturising on the lips and give a youthful, plumped up effect.
None of that comes cheap, of course - €30.50 is the quite considerable damage, which I'm aware is a very hefty price. You can pick up some very good lipsticks at the lower end of the price scale these days and if budget is your primary concern, I'd point you towards them - Bourjois and L'Oreal are both good picks.
But if you're looking for a little bit of luxe, an object of beauty that will brighten up your day (and one that's foolproof and flattering besides), then this should bring you lots and lots of joy. I'd love to know if you're a fellow fan?
